The European hackberry tree of Lugar Nuevo is located next to the village of Villareal de San Carlos, in the Monfragüe National Park. It is considered a noble tree because of its size and demeanour, standing as it does 15 metres high with a trunk circumference of 5 metres. In addition it is over one-and-a-half centuries old. Traditional remedies and jams are made with its fruit.
