A funerary construction with unusual architectural features, as well as painted and engraved motifs in the interior.
This dolmen from the Chalcolithic Age, which in its day was used for funerary purposes, is now a historic relic, declared as a Cultural Heritage Site. It is located in the grounds of “La Granja” in Jerez de los Caballeros.
A monument which is framed within a circular chamber burial complex, and which is accessed via a 25 meter corridor made of large stones vertically embedded in the earth and other stones of various sizes. A double ramp gives this corridor gives to the chamber.
The chamber is oval and in the interior had a combination of painting and engravings, on slate and granite. The painting disappeared over the course of time.
The structure is covered by an artificial mound of compact clay and stones. -
